The Talkshow :
Star Wars en Direct (SWD)
which is French for "Star Wars Live", is a Live web based
radio show where we discuss the different aspects of Star Wars and everything related
to it. The hosts review Star Wars related material and interview SW
personalities. The listeners are welcome to participate live during
the show in our Chatroom, MSN Messenger or by interacting via the
phone. We sometime also offer prizes that can be won by our live
listeners. Shows are now
60 to 90 minutes long and are aired live on
Tuesdays from 7 to 8 PM eastern. The show is broadcast from Montreal
(Canada) and available worldwide.
The Voice of Star Wars Fandom :
Why the voice of Star Wars fandom? Being a radio show, we can
express vocally what we think about the different aspects of the
Star Wars Universe. We do not pretend to know everything, that’s why
our show is a live forum for discussions and fans comments. We don’t
discriminate or judge any comments that are sent to us, and every
fan is welcome, from the webmasters of SW fansites to fanatics to
the more casual SW fans, everyone’s opinion is welcome.
Worldwide :
One thing we are proud of is the fact that we’re the only
multicultural and multilingual Star Wars Live experience on the web.
Our listeners are worldwide from French Canada, France, Switzerland
and Belgium for the French Show and to any fan that can understand
English for our newest show. We’ve been feature in magazines, at
convention, at radio station and television, and it will hopefully
be the same for our new English show as it gets more and more
recognition.

The beginning :
The SWD show was created by Dany Pepin, producer, who was a big fan
of the Live fan radio show JediTalk, the pioneer and grandfather to
us all. He was inspired to create the same ambiance for the French
Star Wars community of Canada and Europe. In January 2001, the first
show was broadcast Live with mediocre equipment and hosts without
any radio or DJ experience. This was the start of a great passion.
We broadcasted for one year along side our big brother JediTalk.
During that time the host, Sebastien Mineau, met with the JediTalk
crew at Celebration II where they shared their passion. They knew of
our show, but didn’t know how popular we had become. Unfortunately,
JediTalk went permanently Off the Air later that year.
Our new mission :
A year later, after
a lot of thought from the producer, a feeling of emptiness left by
the end of Jeditalk, and a little convincing by the host to be, the
French Canadian SWD crew decided to embark on their biggest
challenge yet! Do a Live show in their second language, English, and
try to recapture the flame left by our predecessor. The producer
overhauled the content of the show, the equipment, the website, and
invited a friend Brian
Kierans
as a co-host. With new audioclips remixed by our sound editor
Francois Pepin, the show was ready to go on the “Air”. On September
7th 2003, our first English show was broadcast Live, with
a crew scared and with listeners ready to critize and compare our
show to Jeditalk. The show went well. Months later, with the help of
regular contributors and fans, our mission is achieved. We now
have brought back in our own way, the Live
talk show experience to the Fans.
